Silt Pumping Methods

As the material being pumped will always be a mixture of silt and water it is sometimes necessary to separate these two once they have been removed and allow the water to drain back into your water source (or another water source if safe and legal to do so)

Dewatering Bags

Dewatering Bags can be used in areas of flat and even ground where there is enough space to do so. The bags are custom made so can be made to any dimensions, to a maximum of 5 meters by 12 meters. The bags are filled and left to drain of water

To maximise the efficacy of this method, it is preferable to use more than one bag at a time. This allows bags to be filled while others are draining

Full Size Bags (5m x 12m)

Geotextile Barriers (Permiable Membranes)

Geotextile Barriers can be easily made to fit inside areas of difficult terrain where other methods would normally fail. These barriers can be scaled to any size and shape and benefit from having a slope that can be 'pumped behind'.

These barriers will then allow the water to drain back into your water source and leave the silt behind

Soil Bunds

Soil Bunds can be made with excavators in areas near the water source. These bunds can then be filled and left to drain of water, leaving the silt behind
